New Policies Update

Exercise physiologist owners Mike Lapolla and Nick Galuardi lead fitness team in Saratoga Springs

We’re taking this pandemic seriously for our members and our community.  No one wants to get sick and by taking the necessary precautions now, we can stay open – safely and effectively, until a vaccine or treatment is available.

We officially re-opened on August 24th, 2020 after a more than 5 month layoff due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.  Unfortunately it’s still with us, and as such we’ve got some new policies in place that will make SHW feel a LITTLE bit different.  ALL in the name of safely returning to a temporary new NORMAL.  Please read below to see how these policies can help you regain confidence and feel more at ease in our facility.  We realize the apprehension many people may have when returning to the ‘gym’ but ours is different and we intend to stay safe!

Social Distancing

Try to stay 6 feet away from others.

Common sense tells us that if we distance ourselves from one another, we significantly reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19 IF someone else has it.  Be smart!

Wear a Mask

All the time - no exceptions.

New York State guidelines require individuals to wear a suitable mask (no buffs) at all times without exception.  Many people are apprehensive about wearing masks with cardio but experience is telling us, it’s OK.  Individuals may need to decrease their exercise intensity a little bit.  But all in all, it’s proving to be a small compromise as you return to the gym.

Is Everything. Avoid Crowds.

Avoiding crowds (rare at SHW anyway) is a great way to minimize your risk of exposure to COVID-19.  Use the charts below (or download facility usage below) to see a when it’s typicially slow or busy so you can plan accordingly.  Again, all in the name of staying safe and feeling comfortable.

Stay 6 feet apart while exercising at Saratoga Health and Wellness
The cardiovascular equipment at Saratoga Health and Wellness has been placed a minimum of 6 feet apart and turned off if necessary

Equipment spaced 6 feet apart.

You’ll notice that our cardiovascular and aerobic exercise equipment is adequately spaced at least 6 feet apart.  Some equipment has been placed on ‘pause’ and has been turned off in an effort to mitigate crowds and keep the distance.  All for safety.

Our Strength

Equipment has some rules.

Due to the typically tame crowds at Saratoga Health and Wellness, we’ve chosen NOT to separate our strength training equipment.  Alternatively we are implementing a simple rule of NOT allowing members to access a piece of equipment that is directly next to another member.  Please allow at least 1 piece of strength equipment BETWEEN you and your friend next door.  By respecting each other’s space, everyone wins.
